Many congratulations to W Bro Richard Parrish on the announcement of his appointment to Grand Rank, as Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies.
As great as his contribution has been within the lodge, it is as a Provincial Officer that he has made the greatest mark as a Freemason. Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, Provincial Grand Mentor between 2017 and 2022 and Provincial Grand Preceptor between 2018-2022 are just three of the roles he has filled with distinction, especially during the recent suspension of masonic activities, when he produced a whole series of videos covering various aspects of freemasonry.
Richard has filled many offices in the lodge over the years but he is best known for being its Worshipful Master in 2006, and more recently as our Director of Ceremonies for 5 years between 2015 and 2020.
There is much more to Richard than being a Freemason for he has devoted much of his life to the benefit of others. A Registered Nurse, Fellow of the Royal Society of Health, Fellow of the Institute of Supervisor Management, he was also Chairman of Age Concern Somerset 1970-1981, Chairman of the National Care Homes Association, Business Development Director Housing 21, Taunton Deane Councillor for 16 years and its Mayor 1999-2000.
He is delighted to say he is now retired. Phew!
Congratulations Richard
